Behold! Voodoo Jukebox proudly inducts Johnny Kowalski and the Sexy Weirdo’s into the forever expanding Imaginarium of bizarre and eccentric talent.
Johnny Kowalski and the Sexy Weirdo’s are a Birmingham (UK) based carnival-punk sextet known for their outlandish and lively underground performances. After performing as separate entities Johnny Kowalski and John-Joe Murray (The Worrisome Ankletrout) founded the Sexy Weirdo’s in 2011. Having made their name on the live circuit by playing squat buildings, house parties, exhibition spaces and an extensive list of venues across the Midlands, their fusion of traditional klezmer, DIY-punk, reggae and ska has also made them favourites among European festival-goers.
In 2012 the group independently released their debut album Victory For The Monsters and subsequently embarked on three European tours that took them to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic and to British festivals such as BoomTown, Y Not, Tramlines, Nozstock, Wychwood and Swingamajig.
The band is currently close to completing their second album Kill The Beast, produced by Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Robert Plant, The Destroyers), which will be released on May 7 2014.
